Delete your account and data
There are two ways to delete your MMF account. If you still have the app, do it in the app — it takes about ten seconds and happens immediately. If you have already uninstalled it, email us and we will do it for you.
1. Delete it in the app
- Open MMF and make sure you are signed in.
- Go to Settings.
- Scroll to Your data.
- Tap Delete account.
- Confirm. That is the last chance to stop — there is no undo afterwards.
The deletion happens straight away, on our servers, not at some later batch. You are signed out the moment it is done. The request can only ever delete the account that makes it, which is why nobody else can delete yours.
2. Delete it by email
Uninstalled the app, lost the phone, or cannot sign in? Write to us and we will delete the account by hand.
Send to: zenemixlabs@gmail.com
Subject: Delete my MMF account
In the message, tell us:
- The email address of your MMF account — the one you signed in with.
- Whether you signed in with Google, with Apple, or with an emailed link. It helps us find the right record.
Please send it from that same email address. It is the only thing that lets us confirm the account is yours. If you cannot — the address is gone, or Apple gave you a private relay address — write anyway and we will work out another way to verify you before deleting anything.
What happens next
- We reply to confirm we received it.
- We check that the request came from the account holder.
- We delete the account. We aim to do it within a few days, and no later than 30 days from the moment we can confirm it is yours.
- We reply once more to tell you it is done.
We will never ask you for a password, because MMF has none — signing in is Google, Apple, or a one-time emailed link. Anyone asking you for an MMF password is not us.
3. What gets deleted
Deleting the account removes your sign-in record and everything attached to it:
- Your sign-in record — including the email address on it.
- Your profile — display name, email, phone number, profile picture, city, country, coordinates, status, availability, note, social handles, language and theme, and the one-way hashes built from your email and phone.
- Every pin on your map — names, cities, countries, coordinates, public notes, private notes, tags and the contact details you entered about each person.
- Your invitations — every link you created and what was done with it.
- Your country-change log — every recorded move of every pin on your map.
- Your friend requests and friendships, sent and received.
- Your notification records, read or not.
- Your notification token, so no more push notifications can reach you.
This cannot be undone. There is no recovery window and no backup we can restore you from.
4. What does not get deleted
Four things outlive the deletion. Three of them are choices, one is a gap we intend to close. We would rather you read it here than discover it later.
- Why
- Deleting the account does not currently reach our file storage, so the image files can be left behind. They stay private — only your account could ever read them, and that account no longer exists.
- What to do
- Delete the pins inside the app before deleting the account, which does remove their photos. Or ask us in the same email and we will clear them by hand. We are fixing this so the extra step is not needed.
- Why
- Deliberate. They are kept unattached to the account precisely so that a message saying "please delete my account" is not destroyed by the deletion it asked for. They contain what you wrote, plus app version, operating system, device model, language and the email address on the account at the time.
- What to do
- Ask us to delete them too and we will, once the deletion itself is settled.
- Why
- These are how we stop abuse of the operations open to people without accounts. They hold counts only — no name, no content, no message, nothing you typed — and they are not attached to the account, so nothing removes them.
- Why
- If a friend added a pin for you on their map, that pin is their data, not yours. Your name, city, country, approximate position and photo stay on their map after your account is gone. We cannot delete another person's map because you left.
- What to do
- Ask us. We can remove the copy stored on our servers, and we will ask the person to remove it from their phone. See §6.
5. Data on your phone
MMF keeps a copy of your map on the device so it works without a signal. That copy is on the phone, not with us.
- Uninstalling the app removes everything MMF stored on that phone. It does not delete a synced account — that is what this page is for.
- Settings → Your data → "Erase local data" wipes the device copy, including the stored session. MMF offers it only while you are signed out: with an account, every local row is a copy that the next sync would bring straight back, so the button would be a lie.
- Never signed in? Then there is nothing with us to delete. Your whole map lives on that phone, and uninstalling or erasing local data is the end of it.
Want a copy before you go? Settings → Your data → "Export my pins" gives you a file of the pins on the device, private notes included. Do that first: once the account is deleted there is nothing to export from.
6. If you never had an account but you are on someone's map
MMF lets people add pins for friends who do not use the app. If someone added you, there may be a record with your name, your city, an approximate position, a photo and whatever contact details they typed in — without you ever having signed up.
You can ask us to remove it. Write to zenemixlabs@gmail.com with:
- Your name as it would most likely have been typed.
- The email address or phone number that is probably on the pin — that is what lets us find it.
- Who you think added you, if you know.
We will remove the copy held on our servers. The copy on that person's own phone belongs to them, so we will ask them to delete it as well — and under our terms they agreed to do exactly that when asked.
7. Contact
Everything on this page goes to one address: zenemixlabs@gmail.com. A person reads it.
