Child safety standards
MMF — Map My Friends, published on Google Play by Zenemix Labs, does not tolerate child sexual abuse or exploitation of any kind. This page says what is prohibited, how to report it, and what we do when we receive a report.
If a child is in immediate danger, call your local police or emergency number first. Then tell us, so we can act on our side too.
1. What is prohibited
On this page a child is anyone under 18. Anywhere in MMF — a profile photo, a pin, a photo attached to a pin, a note, a public status, or an invitation — you may not:
- Upload, store or share child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — any image, video or other depiction of a child in sexual activity or posed sexually, whether it is real, drawn, edited or generated by AI.
- Sexualise a child in any way, including in text, "jokes", or links to such content elsewhere.
- Groom a child: use MMF to approach, build trust with, or arrange to meet a child for a sexual purpose.
- Sextort or coerce: threaten or pressure anyone to produce or share sexual images of a child, or threaten to publish such images.
- Traffic or exploit a child, or advertise, arrange or profit from the sexual exploitation of a child.
- Locate, follow or monitor a child. MMF is not a tracker, and our terms of use already forbid using it to watch anyone.
Breaking any of these ends your use of MMF, and where the law requires it, we report it to the authorities.
2. Who MMF is for
MMF is made for adults keeping track of friends they already know — after a year abroad, a volunteering stint, or a move. It is not designed for children and is not aimed at them.
Our terms of use do not set a formal minimum age yet, and say so openly. When they do, this page will state the same age.
3. What other people can see in MMF
MMF is built narrow, and that limits where abuse could happen. There is no chat, no feed, no public profiles, no directory and no search for strangers. Nobody can see you until you accept them.
- Friends you have accepted see your pin: your name, your profile photo, your city, your status, your availability and your public status note.
- Photos attached to a pin are stored privately for the account that added them. No other user can open them.
- Someone you send an invitation link to can put their own name, city and status on your map. A photo they pick on that page stays in their browser and is never uploaded.
We do not scan photos automatically. Because so little in MMF is visible to other people, the people who can see it are the ones who can tell us — which is why every report is read by a person.
4. How to report a concern
In the app
Open Settings → About → Contact support, describe what you saw and send it. It works without an account, and the message comes straight to us without you leaving the app.
By email
Write to zenemixlabs@gmail.com with "Child safety" in the subject. You do not need an MMF account.
What to include
- The name the person uses in MMF, and how you came across them.
- What you saw, and roughly when.
- How we can reach you, if you are happy for us to.
Never send us, or anyone else, the image itself — not even a screenshot of it. Copying or forwarding child sexual abuse material is a crime in most countries, even when the aim is to report it. Tell us where it is and we will find it.
You can also report directly to the authorities: in the United States to NCMEC's CyberTipline, and elsewhere to your national hotline, listed by INHOPE, or to the police.
5. What we do with a report
Child-safety reports go ahead of everything else. When one reaches us, we:
- Review it straight away, and remove anything that breaks these standards as soon as we know about it.
- Close the accounts involved.
- Preserve the evidence and report child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and/or the competent national authority, as the law requires.
- Cooperate with law enforcement, including answering valid legal requests for the information we hold.
We do not warn the account we are acting on when doing so could put a child at risk or get in the way of an investigation.
6. The law
We comply with the child-safety laws that apply to MMF wherever it is offered, including the legal duty to report child sexual abuse material to the authorities. Where a law asks more of us than this page does, we follow the law.
7. Child safety contact
Zenemix Labs has a designated child-safety contact who receives reports, notices from Google Play and requests from the authorities, and who can speak to how MMF prevents child sexual abuse material and complies with these standards. Reach them at zenemixlabs@gmail.com. A person reads every message.
